Book Club #1: The Rosie Project

Book Club 1

I’ve been an avid reader every since I learned how to read through Goodnight, Moon all by myself. I was “that kid” growing up who took her book with her to dinner and basically any other outing that involved potential possible socialization. I was the one who read through every Tree House Club book in one summer. I was the girl who stayed up until midnight on a Thursday nigh to get one of the first copies of the last Twilight series, and then read until 5am. I write in journals and on random pieces of napkins any time an exciting thought or experience comes to me. I share my feelings and deepest emotions through words. And I don’t apologize for missing out on a night with friends to finish the last hundred pages of my latest book.

So it was only natural that I would want to create a community of fellow book lovers to unite and join me in escaping to different worlds inside our minds and finding utter happiness curled up on a couch with our pups and books on a Friday night. Hey, I’m talking to you.

Without further ado, I introduce you to the Always, Hunter book club. We’ll follow the traditional protocol here, with starting on August 1st and ending on September 1st, where we’ll then have thoughtful discussion in our pajamas eating a bag of popcorn. The first book I’ve picked to read is The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion. My sole motivation behind choosing this book is that Jennifer Lawrence is starring in the film adaptation. I have no shame.

To sum it up for you, it’s about a genetics professor named Don who decides to create a survey to find the perfect candidate to be his wife. Enter Rosie, who’s on the hunt for her father and sparks a friendship with Don, and they are perfectly unperfect together. It’s basically the rom com of dreams.

I’m not sure if I’m entering into this alone, or if anyone will actually read with me (hey, mom). But I figured, life’s too short to worry about no one reading books with you. I’d love for you to prove me wrong, so comment below if you want to join in. I’d be as happy as a penguin in the arctic. Or is it polar bear? Whatever. Let’s get reading!
