Colorful Streets in Singapore

The next stop on our amazing journey was Singapore!

We flew in late from Japan after flying for 8 hours only to be greeted by a huge Five Seconds of Summer fan club. A few of the younger girls on our trip freaked out and a bunch of us ended up staying out all night with the fans (and new friends!) waiting for the band to arrive. I, on the other hand, got some much needed shut eye.

The next morning we went to the breakfast buffet where we were staying, at the Pan Pacific Hotel, and I had one of the best breakfasts of my life complete with gluten-free vegan bread and the most amazing vegetable curry. Then we headed out on the town for some sightseeing!

The building on the right side is actually a hotel! The Marina Bay Sands Hotel to be specific, and it’s designed to look like a cruise ship that is balancing on top of the three “pillars,” complete with a full bar and lounge pool area up top. It’s pretty neat!

As we drove through Chinatown (by the way, there’s a Chinatown in every city of the world), there were tons of monkey decorations everywhere because they had just finished a huge celebration in honor of the year of the monkey!

They also have cat and owl cafes, where you can enjoy your afternoon tea or coffee with a furry friend.

Weird or totally awesome?

We then walked through this super cool area by the water that was filled with colorful buildings! It was so much fun to take pictures of as we made our way to a boat for a little ride.

It was really fun to see the city by water, it felt a little bit like touring Chicago!

After the boat ride, we headed to our last stop of the day at the Gardens By The Bay. Basically, it’s these two massive glass structures that you can see while driving into the city called the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest.

If you love architecture, then Singapore is a must on your bucket list!

These tree-like structures tower over the buildings and are not only stunning, but also functional. They actually have solar panels attached to the top and house rainwater for the domes, creating a completely sustainable energy system for the entire complex.

We visited the Flower Dome first, and it was filled with gorgeous flowers and sculptures!

We then walked over to the Cloud Forest and were met by this beautiful waterfall.

It was more forest-like and made you feel like you were hiking through a jungle than the structured Flower Dome, but both were incredible.

We also went up to the top of the waterfall and walked around. You could see out over all of Singapore, it was amazing! Some of the group were very scared of heights and because we were walking on grated ground, you could see all the way down to the bottom below our feet!

The whole experience was so cool and Singapore is definitely a place I’d like to visit again! After this, we headed to our cruise ship and set sail for the next 9 days at sea! Next stop… Vietnam!
