Dreams Come True, Disney

Adventures in Disney pt. 1

To celebrate the end of finals and the beginning of summer, Jordin and I spent the weekend in Disney World. After a morning filled with emails for me and golf for him, we met up around lunch time and headed to Hollywood Studios…

We had to stop for lunch at The Brown Derby for my all-time favorite salad, the cobb. The story goes something like this, recorded straight from The Brown Derby itself:

“One night in 1937, Bob Cobb, then owner of The Brown Derby, prowled hungrily in his restaurant’s kitchen for a snack. Opening the huge refrigerator, he pulled out this and that: a head of lettuce, an avocado, some romaine, watercress, tomatoes, some cold breast of chicken, a hard-boiled egg, chives, cheese and some old-fashioned French dressing. He started chopping. Added some crisp bacon — swiped from a busy chef.

“The Cobb salad was born. It was so good, Sid Grauman (Grauman’s Chinese Theatre), who was with Cobb that midnight, asked the next day for a ‘Cobb Salad.’ It was so good that it was put on the menu.

“Cobb’s midnight invention became an overnight sensation with Derby customers, people like movie mogul Jack Warner, who regularly dispatched his chauffeur to pick up a carton of the mouth-watering salad.”

After hanging with the ducks for a quick minute, we went back to the hotel to take a few pictures (for a post coming up real soon), then we headed to Epcot for dinner.

Jordin even let me snap a picture of him in the process…

On our walk to Epcot, we realized that the Flower & Garden Festival was going on. To me, that meant beautiful flowers and seeing all the characters in greenery.

But to Jordin, that meant lots and lots of food.

We traveled the world visiting all the different stations and the many different flower & garden pieces, ooh-ing and ahh-ing at each one.

This one from The Lion King was one of my favorites…

There was even a sand sculpture monkeying around!

1Disney-4

We walked and talked through all the countries, happily continuing on our relaxing evening.

1Disney-5

We passed through Germany and stopped in Norway for some essentials from Laila of Norway (their deodorant rocks!)

1Disney-17

And I found the fairest of them all…

1Disney-16

Until we finally settled on my favorite place, France!

1Disney-14

We stood in line for a traditional Parisian snack that also happens to be one of my favorite desserts… all while I was jumping for joy that we were in Belle’s land.

1Disney-13

We nibbled on this delicious strawberry macaron with a marshmallow filling and took pictures with Belle and the Beast, then walked on over to Italy for dinner at our favorite pizza joint, Via Napoli.

It was a magical day if I do say so myself.
