In honor of it officially being autumn, I can finally share with you my bucket list for this season! There are so many fun things to do and explore in the fall months, and it’s by far my favorite time of the year for adventures. So bring on the baking, late night fireside talks, and all things turtleneck!
1. Go To An Apple Orchard and Pick Apples. This is on my bucket list every year, and although I haven’t had the chance to do it yet, I’m hoping maybe this year it could happen. I just think drinking warm apple cider, walking around an orchard in my autumn clothes, and picking huge juicy apples would be the quintessential fall experience.
2. Start A Bonfire. I’m super lucky to live near the beach, and one of the most special things to do around this time of year is beach bonfires! Everyone brings their blankets and some food, and we roast marshmallows, sing songs, and have meaningful conversation late into the night. It’s seriously the best, but something that could be done anywhere and is a great way to kick off the cool season.
3. Try a New Autumn Scent. As soon as I walked Charlotte on that first semi-cool morning, I ran to the store to get some fall scented candles. My go-to that I’ve been using for years is the Voluspa Goji Torocco Orange. It’s a really versatile scent that could be used anytime of the year, but really shines in the autumn months. This year, I also decided to try something new and that is the Nest Pumpkin Chai, and it is life changing. It takes all the aromas I love in the fall and combines them into one strongly scented candle. I’ve already burned through half of it and my house smells like a really yummy pumpkin patch. I’m not complaining.
4. Go Pumpkin Picking. For years now, my dad has sought out the best pumpkin patch he can find around Halloween and we make a day trip of it with friends and family to go pumpkin picking. It’s such a fun day to spend driving in the car together, eating at some random diner in the middle of nowhere, and picking huge pumpkins. I have so many memories from each year and I can’t wait to keep the tradition for years to come.
5. Host a Friendsgiving. Thanksgiving is a time of gratitude, so why not celebrate it with your friends, too? Friendsgiving is a great way to bring together all your closest friends before they jet off to their families. It’s also an awesome way to celebrate your friends who might not have big family get-togethers at Thanksgiving, or who don’t normally get to celebrate. Pick a location, invite all the people closest to you, and have everyone bring a dish. It’ll be one of the highlights of your year, promise.
6. Volunteer Your Time. Holidays are an extra important time to give back to your community. If you have a few hours to spare, why not donate some old clothes, spend time at an animal rescue, cook a meal at a Woman’s Shelter, or give a little extra love to someone you know who really needs it. Volunteering will do your soul good and is a great way to meet likeminded people.
7. Bring Out The Scarves. As with every change of season, it’s also a great time to transition your wardrobe, clean out your closet, and try some new trends. I have a whole section in my closet dedicated to scarves and scarves alone. They make an outfit for me, even more than a piece of jewelry. So I’ll definitely be bringing out my tried and trues like this one and this one. I also want to try some new trends that I haven’t worn much before, like turtlenecks. I think it’s my year for the turtleneck. They’re coming back big, I’m warning you.
8. Bake Cookies. My aunt hosts a cookie baking party every year with my cousins and sister and mom. We have the best time baking all different kinds of cookies and really go for gold in the cookie olympics. We each tackle a few different recipes and end up with so many tins that we can give away to friends and family.
9. Have A Halloween Block Party. One time I dressed up as an ape and hid in the bushes at a Halloween block party and scared all my friend’s silly. True story. Block parties are so.much.fun and are a great way to have a home base during the Halloween evening. Everyone brings a different dish or activity and you set everything up in the driveways and streets, and then the kids can go trick-or-treating while the parents hang out. It keeps things safe, and most importantly, makes for an extremely fun night.
10. Enjoy Extra Quality Family Time. I love my family. I love spending time with my cousins and grandparents, and I love everyone just being together. I think above all else, fall is my favorite time of year because it brings all the people I love most together and I get to spend lots of uninterrupted time with them. There’s nothing like watching the Thanksgiving parade early in the morning with my dad before anyone else wakes up, or staying up late in the night with my mom and aunts meal planning. Even just sitting on the porch with a cup of tea sharing moments with my Grandma is something I’ll always cherish. Autumn brings people together and brightens everyone’s spirits in a way that no other time of the year can.
There you have it! My ultimate top 10 autumn bucket list. I’m so excited to get rolling on these and to celebrate all things family in the next few months.
What is on your fall bucket list? Let me know… I might just have to try your ideas!
Love this! It seems the season is over before it even begins sometimes. A bonfire on a crisp autumn night snuggled up with hot chocolate sounds like heaven.
I feel the same way! And yes, hot chocolate is a MUST! So glad you liked the post, thanks for reading!
Cute pumpkins! I would much rather paint pumpkins than carve them! Last year I made mine into little donuts. Love the list, too.

I love painting pumpkins too! I painted these as part of the Teal Pumpkin Project, which is when you paint your pumpkins teal to show trick-or-treaters that you are giving out food allergy-friendly items!
