Grateful. That’s the word almost anyone I’ve ever told that I live at the beach responds with, “Wow, you must be so grateful! I bet you go down to the beach all.the.time.”

And you know what? Honestly, I should be grateful and I really only spend a few days a year by the water, swimming until my fingers are pruny and laughing as the waves crash over me. I should be more grateful for the salty air that makes my hair frizz up and the ocean breeze that coasts throughout my little seaside town.

So, when Haileigh and I decided to film one of the outfits for the autumn lookbook down at the beach, we didn’t think much of it. But as we wandered through the sand and tried different shots by the water and up in the dunes, I took a deep breath and was reminded of the beautiful life that’s right outside my front door. I wore my new light pink turtleneck (pink is always in season) that I plan to rock all winter and my favorite Topshop Leigh jeans, with my beloved Burberry scarf that my mom gave me a few Christmases ago, and my signature accessories; this hat from JCrew that I’ve been loving lately and the Quay x Amanda Steele sunglasses that had been on my wish list for months.

And as I took in the seagulls and looked at the seashells, I felt good with where I am at and where I am going. I felt grateful.
