Happy Monday guys! I hope you all have a fabulous weekend! I know I did. Lots of knitting, cups of tea, some family time, and even the first sight of snow. Being a Floridian, this is obviously extremely exciting for me. I’ve been waking up every morning like a kid at Christmas!
As 2019 grows near, my calendar is beginning to fill up with tons of fun events and big milestones. This includes my longest best friend’s wedding in March and Matt and my own wedding celebration (we still don’t know what to call it!) sometime at the end of next year. With that being said, marriage has been a beautiful time of joy, relaxation, and probably a bit too much indulgence. I’m not in my 16-year-old body anymore, and this is the first time I can really feel that. So, I’ve decided to start a new workout program. I’ve been eyeing it for about a year now actually, and did one day once, but could never commit. I’ve never worked out in my life other than yoga, so it’s a complete lifestyle change for me. But, I want to get toned, feel a bit more in shape, and just keep my overall health up. After reading one of my favorite bloggers journey with the Bikini Body Guide by Kayla Itsines, I knew it was the one for me!
So the bikini body guide, or BBG, is a total of 12 weeks + 4 beginner weeks if you’re like me and totally new to working out. The first time I tried it, I was all smug and did one day of the first regular week and about killed myself, so I knew this time around I needed to start at the complete beginning.
I’ve just finished BBG Beginner Week 1 and am super proud of myself! It was hard, I was sore, but I also feel good knowing I’m doing something good for my body three days a week. Along with that, I’ve been trying to start focusing on eating more whole foods and greens as that’s just as important as any workout. Here’s what my new schedule looks like:
Monday: BBG Legs
Tuesday: Hot Yoga
Wednesday: BBG Arms & Abs
Thursday: Hot Yoga or Power Walk
Friday: BBG Full Body
Saturday: Power Walk or Rest
Sunday: Rest
Like I said, it’s pretty hard for me to stay consistent with most things (creative brain over here!), but I’m really hoping to stick with this as least through the full 12 week program. It honestly feels manageable, and as the workouts don’t require weights or crazy equipment, I can do it anywhere! And don’t worry, I’m going to be taking lots of photos to document my body changes as well (just totally not ready to share that in full frame right now. Haha)
To keep myself accountable, I’ve decided to vlog the whole process along with posting my journey here on the blog as well. Below is the first video where you can see some of my sick moves (ha!) and my chatter about the first week. I hope you guys enjoy following along! And if you’d like to do it with me, I’d love for us to keep each other accountable. Comment below if you’ve done BBG before or are currently doing it! Let’s build each other up, ladies, as that’s what it’s all about.
