My 2019 New Year’s Resolutions

It seems like there’s usually two kinds of approaches to the New Year. The first kind of person enters with that attitude of “if I haven’t or have done something all of last year, why should I change anything now?” and then there’s the kind of person that jumps into New Year’s head first with full lists of resolutions and mind-spinning ideas as the near year arrives.

I’m the second one. I personally love creating resolutions each year, and this year was no exception. Due to major jet lag from just flying to Colorado from the U.K., I woke up well before the sun and anyone else and decided to jot down some of my New Year’s Resolutions in my journal. When I read my resolutions to my mom later on, she said, “wow, I could hardly keep one of those, let alone all of them.”

But I don’t see it that way. As an all or nothing thing. I simply see resolutions as goals or visions you would like to move closer to in the new year. I’m all about becoming more of who I’m meant to be, and I think resolutions are just a fun way to move towards that. So, with that being said, I’d like to share my resolutions with you all…

My 2019 New Year’s Resolutions

  1. Post on my blog and YouTube channel consistently for a whole year.
  2. Be present with my husband. Don’t let those crazy thoughts that always swirl take up too much space.
  3. Focus on eating whole foods that make me feel better. Exercise because I enjoy it.
  4. Find a home to call our own.
  5. Start saving. Put aside funds and make them “untouchable”.
  6. Buy clothes thoughtfully. Only invest in pieces I know I’ll love.
  7. Read more. Less phone time.
  8. Prioritize self care. Take a bath every day, spend time alone, meditate, enjoy the present moment.
  9. Spend more time moving towards a goal. Don’t use tv as an excuse. Or being tired. This life flies by so start leaving my mark.
  10. Make new friends intentionally. Surround myself with good people that encourage me to enjoy life.
  11. Continue writing, as it fuels my soul.
  12. Photograph more. Take my camera everywhere as I never know what could be around the corner.

So, maybe my mom is right and I’ll barely scratch the surface on one of these, or maybe I’ll surprise myself and hit them all. The point is that the end result doesn’t really matter to me. What matters is the intention to always be encouraging my best self to arrive. To show up and shine. If I can do that, even just a quarter of the time, then my resolutions are more than worth it.
