My Thoughts On Spring + Top Clean Beauty Picks

I’m a big advocate of spring cleaning.

And by cleaning, I mean any type of reset from a type of mindset to your living room set-up to a new dress you’ve been eyeing. When spring comes along, it feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders from a dreary winter. I’ve suffered with seasonal depression off and on for most of my life (thankfully its in the off mode right now), so every time I make it through winter I breathe a deep sigh of relief and let go of the unexpected anxiety I’ve been carrying. Spring is such a beautiful time for renewal, regrowth, and to re-center yourself. I recently came across this quote:

“Where flowers bloom so does hope.”

-Lady Bird Johnson

Another way I love to welcome change in new seasons is by switching up my go-to beauty routine. I’ll usually swap a deep purple lip for something nude or light pink. I’ll add a more detoxifying moisturizer instead of a hydrating one. I’ll wear a lighter foundation and put on a brighter blush. Here are a few beauty picks I’ve either used for years and love or have had my eye on forever to try. Let me know what you top beauty picks are in the comments, I’d love to try something new this year!

Desert Essence Tea Tree Oil Face Wash – I love this face wash and have been using it for years. It’s the only thing that completely cleared my acne and also feels really clean on my skin!

Kora Organics Purifying Cream – My go-to moisturizer. It’s just hydrating enough to keep my skin plump and moisturized, but not too heavy on my skin. It doesn’t stick around either so it feels really good to put on, especially in the warmer months.

Kora Organics Energizing Citrus Mist – This mist is amazing! When I spray it on first thing in the morning, it instantly wakes me up and gives me a great boost to start the day. Plus, it smells so good!

Kora Organics Rose Quartz Luminizer – I love anything with rose in it, and rose quartz is my favorite (I love using a rose quartz roller or gua sha to rejuvenate my skin). I haven’t tried this luminizer yet but I have a feeling it would be perfect for that spring glow!

Osea Atmosphere Protection Cream – this light-weight moisturizer is formulated to provide barrier protection against visible damage caused by environmental stressors such as dry climates, wind and air pollution. It’s got a matte finish so is great not to leave the skin too oily, and smells like geranium and lavender which is extra calming for a busy day.

Artifact Skin Co Mèr-Mèr Monoï Beauty Flower Glowing Dry Body Oil – I’m pretty much obsessed with this stuff. I lather it all over after showering and it feels amazing. I’ve never really been into using moisturizer or oils on my body as I hate the oily feeling of it on my clothes, but this dry oil is wonderful because it provides deep moisture while also feeling like there’s nothing there. Plus, the smell is heavenly. Highly recommend.

Herbivore Moon Fruit Night Treatment – I will say I mainly use this night treatment for it’s bright purple color, but it’s also an amazing overnight moisturizer. When I wake up the next morning my skin always feels so smooth and fresh, ready for a day of makeup.

Kari Gran Hydrating Tonic – I recently picked this up at Lemon Laine in Nashville, and have been loving it ever since. A super hydrating lavender tonic. I love spraying it on my face before bed or even putting it on my pillow for that extra comfort.

BeautyCounter Tint Skin Hydrating Foundation – I have yet to try this foundation, but have seen nothing but rave reviews from it. I love BeautyCounter’s other face products in the spring and summer as they are really lightweight and easy to apply, so I expect nothing less from this one.

BeautyCounter Lip Gloss in Opal-Moonstone – Loveee this lip gloss. It’s really smooth and keeps my lips hydrated, which is a major problem for me in the spring and summer. The opal-moonstone color looks beautiful and great as an everyday pinky nude, so I definitely want to get my hands on one.

Ilia Sheer Tinted Moisturizer – My mom (who’s in her 50’s) has used this tinted moisturizer religiously for years and swears by it. It gives her the perfect amount of coverage while also being super lightweight and not cake-y at all. On the days I want a “no makeup makeup” look, I always reach for this.

RMS “Un” Cover-Up Concealer – I definitely like my makeup on the heavier side, and I love this concealer because it’s so buildable. It goes on super creamy and leaves my skin feeling flawless, and it’s the one concealer I go back to again and again.

Ilia Tinted Lip Conditioner in Blossom Lady – My lips always get sunburnt once spring and summer hit (literally no other part of my body gets sunburnt but my lips. It’s so weird), so I love this lip conditioner because it gives cute color while also being extremely hydrating.

Vapour Beauty Aura Multi Stick in Charm – Oh the multi-stick. It’s my number one “in my purse” beauty product because you can use it for literally anything. Lips? Check. Cheeks? Check. Eyes? Check. It’s the perfect sustainable and adorable option for makeup. Plus it’s sheer and buildable so it works for any kind of makeup wearer.

Chantecaille Radiance Gel Bronzer  – I’m not a huge bronzer or contour fan, but this gel bronzer I keep coming back to over and over. It seems I can never mess up my contour when wearing it, and it gives the perfect amount of matte finish and glowy look to make me a bit less pale. It’s a winner in my book.
